discriminationBRCSM attorney Brian Hughes was successful on behalf of a local manufacturer in defending a discrimination suit in New Bedford Superior Court in April of 2016.

The client was accused of wrongful employment termination based on allegations of whistleblower protections, age and disability discrimination.

After a five-day jury trial, the court ruled in favor of the manufacturer, avoiding damages. The case involved highly disputed facts and passionate and emotional testimony.

For companies navigating the employment law arena, following best-practices and honest dealings are essential to defending these types of cases. Employers are well-advised to document all employment actions and stay updated on the most current changes in state and federal law.
