Dan de Abreu joined BRCSM in the Taunton office in 2020, bringing 18 years of experience as a skilled practitioner in and out of the courtroom. Dan handles general business litigation, including municipal and land use matters, criminal defense, and appeals. Before coming to BRCSM, Dan was the First Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Taunton.
Over the years, Dan has competed in several marathons and half-marathons. Most recently, he was set to run in the New Bedford Half Marathon, whose features include the natural beauty of Clark’s Cove. The event, set for March of 2020, was canceled due to the pandemic.
Dan enjoys the challenge of running the distance and completing the course; it’s a true feeling of accomplishment. “There are no shortcuts,” he adds. “And when you reach a good pace, there is time for some deep thinking.” His love of running dates back to middle school but he explains that while his commitment had been intermittent, he always finds his way back to it.
In addition to running, Dan enjoys camping, especially in Vermont’s Green Mountains. He shares that he particularly likes the meticulous process of planning the camping trip including: preparing for the weather, gathering equipment and supplies, and researching the location. “It’s a great chance to unplug from the electronics of our everyday life and reset,” he explains.
He remembers being introduced to camping as a child with his dad and then continuing the adventures with his friends. He once observed Black Bears trekking around in the woods, crossing a river by jumping from rock to rock, all with an amazing quietness. More recently, he enjoys walking with his son in area forests closer to home.
