Congratulations to BRCSM partner Kevin McAllister who was reappointed as Town Solicitor for another term by the Town Council in a unanimous vote. Kevin is responsible for all legal matters involving the town of Hopkinton (outside of criminal prosecutions and the zoning board of review).  As Town Solicitor for the past year, Kevin has developed a deep respect for the town’s community spirit and an understanding of its unique historical, agricultural and environmental characteristics.

KevinKevin advises the Town Council on a wide array of business and governance matters such as requests for access to open records, compliance with open meetings laws, day-to-day personnel issues and budgetary matters.  He has participated in drafting new ordinances covering both a solar energy generation facility and a new “dark sky” ordinance for exterior LED lighting. He provides either direct representation or oversight of all pending litigation including 2016 appearances in US District Court, RI Supreme Court and RI Superior Court.

Hopkinton is located in the southwest corner of Rhode Island. The size of the town is 44 square miles and the population is approximately 8,000. It was incorporated in March 1757 and consists of four villages: Ashaway, Bradford, Hope Valley, and Rockville.

BRCSM represents numerous municipalities and quasi-municipal service districts in a variety of contexts such as civil rights defense work, wastewater treatment facility user fees, inter-municipal compacts, and pension disputes. We represent municipal boards — including planning boards, zoning boards, town councils, and school departments — in arbitration and administrative settings.
