All seven School Committee members and four of the six challengers in the November election participated Thursday evening in a session billed as “School Committee 101,” or to borrow the title of a book recommended at the meeting, “How Not to Be a Terrible School Board Member.”
The teach-in, held at the Newport Area Career and Technical Center, was led by attorneys Mary Ann Carroll and Benjamin M. Scungio, who represented the law firm of Brennan, Recupero, Cascione, Scungio & McAllister of Providence. The firm offered the presentation after the School Committee majority overstepped its boundaries inJune and then had to undo the misstep the next week.
